ProductionCompanies
Monday, Sept. 8 and Wednesday, Sept 10
5:30 - 7:30pm
The Production Companies meet once a week for 2 hours for 12 weeks. During the course, members train in all aspects of the theatre including acting (character development, portraying varying ages, vocal projection and diction, etc.), acting with fellow performers (human, animal, other), stage movement, make-up, lighting, sound, costuming, props, publicity and more. Each company works together on a production of their choice, either existing or original. Company members themselves are involved in every part of the final production which will be performed at the end of the 12 weeks. It is definitely more involved than our mainstage shows, more "hands-on", and tons of FUN!
Entrance into Production Companies is by audition and interview only.
Auditions are open to youth grades 1 - 12.
You may prepare a monolgue of no more than 2 minutes, or you may choose from material we provide. Sometimes we include musical selections in our performances. If you are a singer, you may bring a song or choose from selections at CAST. If you wait to choose material from CAST, you will be given time to read through the piece or look over the song several times before the audition. Short interviews will be given prior to your audition. These interviews are to help us get to know each other and help auditionees feel as comfortable as possible before the audition.
To register for an audition, please click on the Contact Us Button in the left column and send an email. Or you may call 328-CAST.
| Audition Procedure Our goal is to make auditions as fun and stress free as possible. First, all auditionees and/or parents fill out a form giving age, contact, and conflict information, etc. Please plan to arrive at least 10 minutes early in order to have time to fill out the audition form prior to the audition. Directors and Costumers will talk about the rehearsal and performance schedules, costuming, etc., and answer any questions. Auditionees may come whichever date best suits their schedule. You do not need to come both dates, but are welcome to do so. Please be aware that if you return for the second date, we shall start with the new auditionees and listen to those returning if time permits.
Please do not worry about being familiar with the script. We talk about the play and the characters and give auditionees ample time to read scenes from the script prior to the audition itself. We then assign either monologues or scenes which include more than 2 characters and give each group time to read through them together a few times before they audition. Auditionees for CAST productions come from the immediate community as well as many surrounding counties. They range from those who have performed in shows or taken classes @ CAST or with other area theatre groups, schools and churches, to those who have no prior experince at all. Please be assured that prior association with CAST, or prior experience with other theatre or performance groups does not affect our casting decisions one way or another. Our casting decisions are based on whom we feel will make up the best ensemble for the show. |
